Settlement House Has Annual Swim The annual swimming tournament of the Riverside Community Settlement House was staged yesterday afternoon at the Lincoln Park pool and participated in by a large number of Colored, Japanese and Mexican boys.
Mayor E. B. Criddle acted in the capacity of honorary referee, while Mrs. Edith D'Eliscu and Julian Williams were the referees. "Bob" Parker was the official starter and Rev. Moss, George Llamas, Norman Evans and Leo Baca the judges.
The events were witnessed by a large gathering of sport lovers who enthused over the splendid performances of the contestants.
The summary of the meet is as follows:
25-yard, Colored - Smith Illison, first; Glen Taylor, second. 25-yard, Mexican - M. Aguilar, first; Tony German, second; Mike Madril, third. 25-yard, Oriental - Nishimoto, first; Shibata, second. 30-yard, Colored - Donald Gordon, first, L. Williams, second; Smith Illison, third. 30-yard, Mexican - Raymond Reyes, first; J. Martinez, second; David Zaragosa, third. 30-yard, Colored - Donald Gordon and T. Williams tied for first. Stanley Beverley, third. 30-yard, Mexican - Robert Thompson, first; Silvas Madrel, second; Alphonso Madril, third. 30-yard, Mixed - Donald Gordon, first; Raymond Reyes, second; David Zaragosa, third. Junior Relay - Won by James Calhoun, Bud Taylor, and Donald Gordon. 30-yard, Senior Mixed - Stanley Beverley, first; T. Williams, second; Robert Gordon, third. 25-yard, Girls - Josephine Carter. Senior Relay - Stanley Beverley, T. Williams, Robert Gordon and B. Anderson. Junior Diving - Donald Gordon. Senior Diving - Stanley Beverley.
Other officials who assisted in staging the program were Miss Katherin, nurse; A. E. Baker, clerk of course; M. E. B. Parker custodian and scorer; Jimmie Johnson, announcer. Honorary officials: J. C. Cooper, Mrs. W. A. McDonald, Councilman F. M. Lindsley and Miss Edith Hanson.
